Minimum wage in Italy

Italy has no general statutory minimum wage. Pay floors come from collective agreements or sector rules; see the notes and any sector rows below.

No general statutory minimum wage. Art. 36 of the Constitution guarantees pay proportionate to the work and sufficient for a free and dignified existence; courts and the law take the minimum pay tables (minimi tabellari) of the national collective agreements (CCNL) signed by the most representative unions as the reference, sector by sector (CNEL archive lists the agreements). Legge 144/2025 delegates the Government to anchor pay to the overall economic treatment of the most widely applied CCNL, still without a legal hourly minimum. Eurostat lists Italy among the EU countries without a national minimum wage.
