2 levels of law

How this rate is resolved

The highest minimum that covers the work location applies.

Employers must pay the highest minimum that covers the work location. WageTable checks each level in turn:

  1. India
  2. Gujarat

Gujarat sets no rule of its own on record.

Notes on this jurisdiction's rules and sources

Gujarat fixes basic daily minimum wages by scheduled employment (46 scheduled employments plus ship breaking and sweeping/cleaning, and six piece-rate/rural employments) in two zones (Zone I municipal corporations and urban development authority areas; Zone II other municipalities and the rest of the state) and three skill bands (unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled). On top of the basic rate the Labour Commissioner declares a daily "special allowance" (CPI-linked, like a VDA) every six months for 1 April-30 September and 1 October-31 March; for 01-04-2026 to 30-09-2026 it is Rs.60.50 per day for the 46 scheduled employments (circular dated 01/04/2026). Monthly rate = daily x 26. No rows are published yet - the special allowance circular alone does not state a minimum wage.
