Notes on this jurisdiction's rules and sources

Punjab notifies one schedule of minimum rates of wages for all employments in the State (unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, highly skilled; plus staff categories A-D by qualification), stated per month, per day and per hour, no zones. The May 1, 2026 notification under section 8(3) of the Code on Wages, 2019 fixed new basic rates with effect from May 1, 2026; before that the basic rates were adjusted by dearness allowance twice a year (March 1 and September 1), usually notified months late. Attached labour in agriculture has a separate yearly rate.
