Uttar Pradesh fixes minimum wages for 74 scheduled employments under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled), with a variable dearness allowance revised by Labour Commissioner orders every 1 April and 1 October on the All India CPI. After the April 2026 labour unrest in Noida, Government Order No. 374/36-2-2026-2041256 dated 17-04-2026 (interim relief under s.3(b) UP Industrial Disputes Act, 1947) superseded the Labour Commissioner VDA order No. 1477-84 (M.W.)/15 dated 25.03.2026 (except piece-rated brick kilns) and set, from 01-04-2026, monthly rates for all employments where minimum wages are fixed under the 1948 Act in three district categories: Category-I Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad districts; Category-II districts having a Nagar Nigam (municipal corporation); Category-III all other districts. Only monthly rates are stated. The next VDA revision would normally be due 1 October 2026.
