Minimum wages are set by Minimum Wages Orders made by the Minister of Human Resources under section 23 of the National Wages Consultative Council Act 2011 [Act 732], on the Council's recommendation (reviewed at least every two years). Each order gives a monthly and an hourly rate plus daily rates by number of working days per week (6/5/4; not published here). Domestic servants are excluded. History: January 1, 2013 RM900 Peninsular / RM800 Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan (employers with more than five employees; smaller employers later); July 1, 2016 RM1,000 / RM920; January 1, 2019 RM1,050 nationwide; February 1, 2020 RM1,200 in city/municipal council areas and RM1,100 elsewhere; May 1, 2022 RM1,500 (employers with five or more employees and professional activities; smaller employers from January 1, 2023); February 1, 2025 RM1,700 (five or more employees; smaller employers from August 1, 2025).
