Questions

How do you convert an hourly wage to a yearly salary?

Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work in a week, then by the weeks you work in a year. At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks that is 2,080 hours, so $25 an hour is $52,000 a year.

How many working hours are in a year?

A full-time year is usually counted as 2,080 hours: 40 hours a week for 52 weeks. Paid holidays and paid vacation are included because they are paid. Unpaid time off is not, so take those weeks out.

How much is a biweekly paycheck?

A biweekly paycheck covers two weeks of work: the hourly rate × hours per week × 2. At $25 an hour and 40 hours a week that is $2,000. A year has 26 biweekly paydays, and 27 in some years.

Does this include taxes?

No. Every figure is gross pay, before federal and state income tax, Social Security, Medicare and any other deductions. Overtime and tips are not included.

What is the federal minimum wage per year?

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, in force since July 24, 2009. At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks that is $15,080 a year before tax. Many states and cities set a higher minimum.
